About Us

The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association is the recognised majority union for education professionals in the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Aims & objectives

To promote the cause of education.

To promote and protect the professional, economic, spiritual and social well-being of its members.

To arouse and increase public interest in educational affairs.

To secure conditions that will make possible the best professional service.

To promote cordial relationships amongst its members, between its members and Government and Boards of Management, and to settle disputes amicably wherever possible.

To liaise with other associations and groups having similar aims and objects.

Our Affiliations

We are affiliates of the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT), Education International (EI) and the Joint Trade Union Movement.

Who we represent

We were formed out of the need to have one (1) Union to represent ALL teachers. We currently represent approximately 14,000 Education Professionals comprising approximately 85% of women. TTUTA represents persons in the following sectors:
Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)
Guidance
Primary School
Curriculum
Secondary School
Education Services
Principals
School Supervision
Divisions of Educational Research and Evaluation (DERE) and Planning
